Gil shakes his head. Pauses. Shakes his head again.

He pulls Malcolm in closer for one more tight hug before he starts loosening his grip.

"I'm sorry, kid." He moves back enough to put a hand on Malcolm's shoulder and his palm to Malcolm's cheek. "There's a lot for me to apologize for, to you and your sister. I'm still figuring it all out."
