It's true the ADI have an apparent aversion to magic; particularly because it is fueled by these Fears. This is all well and reasonable given the explanation. But could technology, however impressive, be a full countermeasure? It remains to be seen. Though Emet-Selch is probably right in thinking they would use their science to work on translations over any magic.

Elidibus grows somber. That is to say more so than he was, reflecting with eyes closed. Emet-Selch's words are allowed to flow to their end without comment. It's a rare instance; rarer still these past millennia. But the younger of the two Convocation members is not waiting for his colleague to finish voicing his perspective on all they have learned before speaking again.

Elidibus waits as a courtesy instead, so that he can voice a somewhat...selfish statement.

Before his eyes are opened again, he turns away from Emet-Selch, the window, and crosses the simply furnished common room to where they left their new possessions. And old ones.

"I, for one, have no wish to sacrifice myself for a foreign star. Nor do I desire my passing." Death... it's a final, mortal concept. He does not fear it. But the pain of it here would be that it is not home. "...where I could not rejoin our brethren." Yes, from Elidibus's perspective they had both met their final end. He knows naught of after and Emet-Selch's brief resurrection by Hydaelyn's hand.

"Though I have no intention of submitting myself to the will of our captors, for all it is likely we may fulfill some of their desire ere we are free."

'We'. Elidibus seems almost certain Emet-Selch would be of the same mind. While he is likely not wrong and the confidence is born of experience in dealing with the taller man, it seems it is spoken more... personally than it might once otherwise have been.
