Sharlayan is, putting it charitably, not well known for its cuisine; its most infamous export is a truly awful bread made from fish, rye and carrot that this particular nerd is inexplicably fond of (possibly the only soul in creation to actively enjoy the stuff). Urianger is also not especially given to attending the kind of parties where one might reasonably expect to encounter a chocolate fountain, his part in proceedings usually being to hold the fort while the diplomats went and did diplomacy. The net result of these two things being that he honestly has no idea what 'weird food might be, especially for a world he's so recently arrived on, and Eda certainly holds herself like she knows what's going on, so he has no hesitation copying the gesture, giving a cheery little half-salute with one of the insects on his own plate (a small quantity of a lot of different things that caught his eye, stacked with little regard for what might 'normally' go together) before dipping it in the chocolate.

Cronch. Cronch. Swallow. Shrug. It's no archon loaf, but (to the delight of everyone else, probably) very few things are.
