Some of you have freaky, heartbeat haunted houses. I do not. I mean, as far as I know. Can't speak for my roommate's bedroom.

The point is, at least for now, I can offer a safe, mostly quiet place to crash. I know there are a bunch of empty places around here, but I think some of them are also all, you know- [he makes some gross, exaggerated heartbeat sounds and cups his hands together, imitating something pulsing.] So. [Eddie jokes back, smirking at Adam. After living so long in such a small trailer with his Uncle, Eddie thought he'd crave more space here. But truthfully, he likes hearing Adam moving around a couple of rooms away, and Katrina's room feels very empty without her.

There's something else he wants to bring up, now that Adam's here.]

Kind of a complicated question. Houses around here don't normally have a pulse, but there's always weird shit going on. Any of them could be truly haunted in theory.

[Eddie does turn up despite his bitching, the very picture of disaffected cool, leaned up against a wall in the lobby with his arms crossed. Ruining the image are his constantly tapping fingers and the slight bobbing of his head.]

Uh huh. A considerably alarming sentence.

[Eddie gives Leo the most scathing, unimpressed look he can manage without actually being able to see Leo's face. Then he leans back in his seat, drags out a sigh and complains to no one in sight.]

The sheer audacity of this little shit. [Back to the screen, he adds:] I'm twenty, you faceless gremlin. Respect what I'm assuming are your elders. And people offering you a safe bed.

See, I sensed that about you. Real troublemaker. I could tell.

[Eddie says all this with a stern expression that cracks into a grin as he adds,]

[He thinks maybe he sees a blip, but it's hard to tell what's part of an expression Cortana is making, and what's just an inconsequential twitch or glitch.]

Hey, uh. All the more outlets for you, right?

(Yeah. Her expressions are pretty good, but they're not perfect, so it's easy to lose little things like the slight dampening of a smile as she remembers the missing and the fallen.

What happened to Nick, she wonders?

Still, even though she might miss the friends who are gone, there are friends currently here that need the bulk of her attention. Like Eddie, who manages to get a snortlaugh out of her with that comment.)

I agree. Great minds think alike, right? (Troublemakers are the best, obviously. Or at least, Cortana is.) And hopefully this will blow over soon and I'll be able to get my old outlet back, though I do suppose the lack of competition is convenient...

It's a terrible feeling. Home should be something safe, even if it's not exactly "home". The best we can do is protect it as much as possible.

[on the next topic, Jaeger needs more hobbies. Gaming holds a bit of college nostalgia for him, making it a good place to start. It's also a social hobby, which makes it even better even if there's a bit of a learning curve.]
