Searching Dogtown [Closed]
Who: Manji and Eda
When: February
Where: Dogtown
Summary: Exploring more of dogtown and trying to cross a blood river
Warnings: cw: biting insects, blood, swarms, anemia
If there is one person Manji was excited to go explore Dogtown with it's Eda. Knowing she can hold her own if things get rough. Plus, she was always fun to hang out with and usually knew how to have a good time. The hope of finding some way across the river of blood isn't going very well as Manji swats at a bug he can hear buzzing near his ear.
“You sure you can't just fly over this shit?”

"I'm not sure about anything in this place," Eda admits, or rather complains. From what other people have said, it's not likely to work. But that doesn't prove it wouldn't work for anyone.
One of Eda's ears flicks as something tries to land on it. She's getting frustrated, and while it doesn't feel like the insects are more than an irritation, they're definitely that.
"So here goes nothing." Eda steps away a little and spreads her wings; the sight of her launching herself into the air is probably a bit strange when she's glamoured to look like a human--even for someone who knows what's happening. Leaves rustle on the ground as she takes off, with no visible explanation.
She gains some altitude, enough to try and get the lay of the land before attempting to cross the blood river.

She raises up a bit higher, scanning the river for signs of movement and, for the moment at any rate not spotting anything out of the ordinary aside from, well, the fact it was made of blood.
She levels out and goes to fly across the river--it doesn't look terribly far. So why does it suddenly feel further than she thought?

Eda hears the question and lets out an irritated huff. It's not wind, exactly, but it's... something, isn't it? She's starting to get frustrated.
She flies a little higher, tries to speed up. It feels like she should be getting somewhere--but looking at the far bank, it's still further than it should be.
Finally, with another exasperated sound, she turns to head back down towards her friend. "Did it look like I was making any progress?"

Eda's just as glad Manji doesn't argue the point; then again why would she be here if she wasn't willing to put some effort into the whole exploration idea?
She shakes her head as she lands back on the bank, and she doesn't look happy about it. "Not even the sea serpent that's supposed to be in there." At least, nothing she could make out for certain. Blood wasn't the easiest substance to see through.
She swats at a mosquito that lands on her wing, and then another. Were there this many before?

She hisses and swats at them, before seeing more rising from the edge of the bank closer to the river. If they can't cross here, maybe they'll find something further down. Either way, she isn't staying on spot and just picks a direction to head.

"Titan... they might. I thought the bugs we got back home were bad." But while these ones are small, that clearly doesn't help much. She's not actually sure he's exaggerating.
And she just bolts, trying to put some distance between herself and the cloud of mosquitoes--though she glances at Manji to make sure he doesn't start to fall behind.

She sneaks a glance back, and certainly sees what he means. "Think they'd follow us any less in the woods?" She's not really sure why that would be the case, but maybe they'd want to stay near the blood river. She can hope.

Probably best to FTB on running from bugs!
For now, though, she also makes a break for the woods, hoping the cover and the distance from the river will both help. The cloud of mosquitos doesn't give up immediately, but it does begin to break up a bit as they make it to the trees.
