His lack of surprise, and the way it's a conscious effort not to look away for longer than a scant few heartbeats in something like pity (because for all they are - or were, they were strange times he came from even without time being, well, strange - enemies, he has some inkling from the First of what it's like to intend nothing but the best for a world and instead bring it ruination, and can perhaps then at least begin - as much as any mortal can, at least - to imagine the burden of being Zodiark's heart?), no doubt speak volumes, though should further confirmation be necessary then the slight nod that follows underlines it. Yes, he knows of Zodiark's fall.

(And thinking about this logically, later, he'll note that Elidbus' form is exceptionally well-chosen to engender sympathy, and wonder if his being their Emissary was design or happy accident, but right now that is neither here nor there).

" 'tis of Elpis, then, that thou wouldst speak?" he offers, and it has more of olive branch than chess move about it.
