Eda couldn’t help quirking an eyebrow, just a little, at if you'd have me. After all, that certainly sounded some kind of a way. But… what if they were just being self-deprecating again, being unsure if she wanted to stay after, well, earlier?
It sounded romantic, but she wasn’t completely sure, and then they pulled away and agreed with her reasoning and well, she just wasn’t sure. Which is why while she sounded a little awkward, she didn’t actually intend it as shutting them down when she decided to respond with, "yeah, course… what are friends for, right?"
She just didn’t want to get her hopes up and say something stupid if they didn't mean it that way. Moreover, she didn't want to put them on the spot, or pressure them.
Normally, she might have leaned into the kind of teasing and flirting that she could play off as a joke. But right now, even that would have felt… she didn't want to come off like she had ulterior motives. Not after they opened up about their guilt around leaving her, not while they were being vulnerable. Not right when she was worried they thought they owed her anything.
Whatever else she might have been starting to let herself hope for down the road, she wanted to be very clear that this, tonight, the offer to stay with them was as a friend.
Which wasn't even to say that that felt like less, in her mind. Whether they were anything else or not, Raine Whispers had always been, first and foremost, her best friend. She's missed that as much, if not more than the rest.
…She just wouldn't complain if she was allowed to kiss them, too.
Tonight, though, none of that. Instead she just stretched out on her side of the bed, and reached to grab their wrist lightly and coax them to lay down with her. If they let her, she’d wrap an arm around them and pull them close again. She’s missed just… holding them.
