It puts him back in mind of Kruos. A few people had asked him if the young dragon had arrived with him and he'd always figured it had been better that he hadn't. Perhaps they would have let him keep the whelp if he'd pushed for the angle of Kruos being his seeing-eye-dragon. Oh well, a moot thought overall.
