"Popular's overrated," Steve agrees, relaxing a little when the dot disappears, like Winter's determined it's not a threat. So it's not a threat. He keeps moving.

"Well, sometimes people get upset," he says, carefully, "even if you're not frightening. You know that, right? I mean - if you're being specific about being frightening, that's fine. But people argue or worry, that's just gonna happen. Especially when you matter to us."

He pauses, then adds, "I'm not frightened of you. I never will be. I might be frightened for you if something happens, but I promise, that's different."
