"Some... ancient particle that does a lot of stuff. Feeds some species of aliens. Alien spiders, in particular. My-my fiance was working for them. Well, he wasn't my fiance at first. They needed a human host to go through whatever process and be good for eating, so he was dosing me. Planned to feed me to a whole nest of the things at the center of the Earth.

"Anyway, they're apparently almost all gone, but my alien friend's spaceship still uses them for its power core. So, when they started heating up in me, I sort of got... pulled onto this ship. I was walking down the bloody aisle when it happened, too. One minute I'm at the church, the next I think I'm being kidnapped by some skinny weirdo. He helped me get back to Earth and... sort things. Didn't die, so that was nice."
