Later, the full horror of it will hit Jaeger. He's seen too many similar scenes, and he's still got enough humanity that he's not completely numb to it. Every one of those bones had belonged to someone, the raw wet contents of something that had walked and talked and loved and needed.

A lot of what he's seen and done here haunts him, and will continue to for as long as he still has a soul. It's a small mercy, maybe, that everyone in this particular situation had been beyond help, beyond any decisions that Jaeger could make for them.

A macabre and awful and ultimately hopeless comfort, but a comfort nonetheless.

"I think they have instincts, that's all." And a particularly ugly, insidious way of drawing in their prey. Jaeger's regained enough consciousness to feel chilled all of a sudden, in a way that has nothing to do with Donna tending his hands. "If there's consciousness there, it's twisted. Hungry."

Burn it all. Maybe then he'll feel safe again, feel clean.
